Main Picnic Area
All areas have tables, grills and latrines. All four picnic areas, except Orton, have drinking water. Leashed pets are welcome. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
The Lower and Main Picnic Areas have large expanses of grass, with large trees scattered about for shade. The Main Picnic Area has a small playground. The Lower Picnic Area is close to the access to the trails along the Little Miami River. The stone shelter house in the Lower Picnic Area is now reservable for a non-refundable* fee of $50.00. The shelter house has two stone fire places, a waist-high grill, close access to drinking water and restrooms and hiking trails. No electric is available. The shelter house is open for use year-round from sunrise to sunset, but is only reservable from April through October. The Wingo Picnic is a highly shaded picnic area near the access to the rock climbing area. There is an observation deck overlooking the Clifton Gorge near the Wingo Picnic Area. This overlook has handicap accessible features. The trail leading to this overlook starts at the Wingo Picnic Area. The Orton Picnic area has large expanses of grass and connects to the Rim Trail leading back into the park and Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve.
