Trail Extension at John Bryan
In 2010, MVMBA (Miami Vallry Mountain Bike Association) completed a 2.5 mile extension to the current mountain bike trail system to bring total the mileage to almost 12 miles. This is a multi-purpose trail open to hikers, trail runners and birders but was designed primarily for mountain biking. The new trail extension is called the Frankenlight Loop. It was named after the nickname given to one of the original trail builders who built his own night light to use for night riding, aka a “Frankenlight”. This extension connects to the current trail system and is on the northern most end of the trail system. Just like the rest of the trail system, the Frankenlight Loop is designed for those folks new to mountain biking but offers the advanced rider some interesting features such as the rocky creek crossings. This loop offers some open, fast and flowing trail amongst the beautiful old hardwood trees. Folks love the new loop and it has been successfully used in off-road time trials and a 6 Hour Mountain Bike Race to raise funds to provide trail head amenities. We are so appreciative of the wonderful partnership we have between MVMBA and the Park staff in permitting us to build a trail in this area. |
